2027 Presidency: Nigeria Needs Jonathan Now More Than Ever – Ex-Presidential Aspirant

Abuja, NigeriaA former presidential aspirant under the Action Democratic Party, Mathias Tsado, has called on former President Goodluck Jonathan to contest the 2027 presidential election, describing him as the most suitable leader to steer Nigeria through its current economic and security challenges.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Tuesday, Tsado—who also ran for president in 2019 under the Liberation Movement—urged Jonathan’s close associates to rally around him and persuade him to return to office.

“This is not about partisan politics; it’s about saving Nigeria,” Tsado said. “Jonathan has the experience, temperament, and foresight needed to rescue the nation from its current state.”

Tsado praised Jonathan’s previous administration for its democratic credentials and reforms, which he argued could be instrumental in restoring national stability. He added that many Nigerians continue to view the former president as a symbol of unity.

“At a time when the country faces deep divisions and mounting hardship, his leadership style could help calm tensions and guide economic recovery,” Tsado stated.

He appealed to Jonathan’s political allies to speak with one voice and encourage the former leader to consider another bid for the presidency. “Nigeria needs him more than ever,” he said.

Tsado’s comments come amid growing speculation about potential contenders for the 2027 general elections. While Jonathan has not made any public declarations regarding a political comeback, Tsado insisted that the former president remains the most credible figure to lead the country forward.
