2025 Community Shield: Liverpool and Crystal Palace Set for Wembley Showdown

London, EnglandThe 2025/2026 Premier League season will commence with the traditional Community Shield clash as Liverpool face Crystal Palace this Sunday at Wembley Stadium, kick-off scheduled for 3pm BST.

The annual curtain-raiser pits the reigning Premier League champions Liverpool against FA Cup winners Crystal Palace. Liverpool secured their 20th league title under new manager Arne Slot, ending Manchester City’s four-year league dominance.

Despite offseason changes including the departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid, Liverpool have strengthened their squad with the arrivals of Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Hugo Ekitike, and Milos Kerkez, aiming to carry their winning momentum forward.

Crystal Palace, making their first-ever Community Shield appearance after winning their maiden FA Cup trophy by defeating Manchester City 1-0, will heavily rely on Eberechi Eze, who scored the decisive goal in the final. Eze is strongly linked with a transfer to Arsenal, and this match might be his last chance to add silverware with the Eagles.

Historically, Liverpool ranks third in Community Shield wins, behind Manchester United and Arsenal, with 16 titles (including shared), underscoring their pedigree in the competition. Palace seek to make a historic first triumph.

The encounter promises to be an exciting season opener, with Liverpool eager to add to their silverware and Palace aiming to challenge on the big stage.

The match will be broadcast live in the UK on TNT Sports and discovery+ and streamed on SonyLiv in other regions.
