Ondo State’s Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has pledged to the citizens that he will carry out the Ondo Seaport project should he win the election. The commitment was made in Igbokoda, the Ilaje local government’s administrative center, as part of his ongoing campaign tour before the state’s party governorship primary this Saturday.
Aiyedatiwa stated that his government would focus on actualizing the Ondo Sea Port project and support the Federal Government’s efforts to restore electricity to the state’s Southern senatorial zone. Addressing the local religious leaders’ appeals, he emphasized that the seaport is a vital initiative started by the previous governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, and it is crucial for the state’s economic development.
Regarding the electricity issue, he noted that a local NDDC representative is nearing completion of the work, with 98% already done. He acknowledged the challenges faced by the BEDC, particularly regarding meter distribution due to outstanding debts from consumers, and promised government assistance in acquiring meters to ensure power restoration.
During visits to Ilaje, Odigbo, and Okitipupa, Aiyedatiwa received enthusiastic receptions. He expressed his gratitude to the party leaders and members from Ilaje and encouraged the youth for their unwavering support, anticipating an even larger turnout on election day.
Aiyedatiwa called for unity and participation in the upcoming primary, urging party members to come prepared with their membership and voter cards to ensure success.
Throughout the three local government areas, party leaders and members reiterated their strong support for Aiyedatiwa, endorsing him as their chosen candidate.
In Odigbo, Aiyedatiwa met with the local monarch, Oba Rufus Adegboyega Akinrinmade, and thanked him for his support and blessings. He reaffirmed his commitment to harnessing the area’s natural resources and to prioritizing the traditional institutions in his governance.
While speaking to party faithful at Maga primary school in Ore, he acknowledged their consistent support and promised to continue the good governance he has initiated. He also expressed confidence in their readiness for the upcoming primary.
At Okitipupa, the governor expressed his appreciation for the strong support he has received, which he believes will lead to victory in the primary, and reassured them of his dedication to their welfare.
The governor also visited local royalty, including the Jegun of Idepe-Okitipupa, Oba Michael Obatuga Adetoye, and the Amapetu of Mahin Kingdom, Oba William Oluwasegun Akinyomi, where he received royal blessings. Additionally, Rt. Hon. Ogundeji Iroju, a former Deputy Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, switched allegiance from the Peoples Democratic Party to the APC and was officially welcomed by Governor Aiyedatiwa.
