The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has sanctioned N1.455 trillion for the construction and rehabilitation of roads across thirteen states.
Announcing the decision in Abuja, the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, stated that the projects approved were initially deferred during the last FEC meeting to allow the government time to secure funding.
The projects include the rehabilitation of the Abeokuta-Iboro-Ilaro Road in Ogun State, sections two and three of the Mubi to Maiduguri Road, and the Benin-Akure-Ilesha Road. Other approved works cover the Benin-Akure route by Ilesha, Angingali-Udobi-Udona-Umo-Uwana-Ubalaka in Imo State, and the Aba-Owerri Road.
Mr. Umahi further mentioned approvals for projects in Cross River State, the Enugu-Port Harcourt corridor, Igomu Bridge, Umuahia to Aba, Ore-Ondo-Akure Road, and the construction of the Ofin-Oreta Road in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
