13-year-old accuses father of rape

A 13-year-old girl in SS2 has made a distress call over repeated sexual abuses she has been subjected to by her father.

The girl who lives with her parents in Lagos said that after sending her mother away from the home weeks back, the father “began using me as a sex partner.”

She narrated that the father wakes her up, undresses her and rapes her, while promising to buy her things.

The mother of the girl, Mrs P. Philip confirmed that aside experiencing recurring cases of Gender Based Violence (GBV) and maltreatment from the husband, she was sent away over two weeks ago.

Mrs Philip said the victim who is her only child sent her a voice note, asking to be rescued to avoid getting impregnated her father.

Accusation versus test results
Meanwhile the 52-year-old father, Mr Philip, claimed that the accusation was a conspiracy between his daughter and his wife.

He said the conspiracy rose because he had caught his wife cheating with a man she claimed was a church member.

Mr Philip said he had reported the alleged infidelity severally to her relatives.

However, he strongly denied raping his daughter.

Some neighbours who spoke with Radio Nigeria confirmed the claims of Gender Based Violence by the wife, saying he always maltreated her.

Neighbours said the mother came to them with the voice note, were the daughter appealed to save her from further abuse.

Meanwhile a test was carried out in a military hospital and the result showed that there was bruising, indicating forceful penetration of the vagina.

Another test carried by Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) showed the same result to the previous.

Mr Philip was thereafter arrested.

Unconfirmed report says the IPO, Gender unit, Ketu police station, rather than charging it to court has released the father, telling to “go and settle the family matter.”
