A total of 12 coaches have successfully submitted their application letters to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) before the deadline for the vacant position of head coach for the Nigerian senior men’s national team, Super Eagles. The NFF had announced the vacancy after Jose Peseiro’s contract ended in February.
The NFF, through an advertisement on its website, specified that the prospective Super Eagles coach must have a proven track record at the highest level of football. Notable applicants include Emmanuel Amuneke, the former head coach of the Tanzania senior men’s team, Finidi George, former assistant coach to Peseiro, and Sunday Oliseh, a former head coach of the Super Eagles.
Other applicants who submitted their applications ahead of the deadline include Samson Siasia, whose FIFA ban is expected to be lifted soon, Sylvanus Okpala, former assistant coach under Stephen Keshi, and Michael Nsien, a former coach of the USA U-16 team of Nigerian descent.
